Our Mission and Ministry

Two Friends

Ongoing programs and committees under the care and oversight of New England Yearly Meeting of Friends are encouraged to develop and follow a “Purpose and Procedure” statement that reflects our ministry, which is similar to a mission statement. Ours is as follows:

Wrapped In Play

PURPOSE: To provide meaningful, fun and enjoyable programming to Quaker children throughout New England Yearly Meeting.  Together we exist to worship, play and practice our faith in order to build a community that endures, which young people may know as their own, God willing.

One Boy, One Box, One Book

PROCEDURE: Weekend retreats are held throughout the year at either Woolman Hill Retreat and Conference Center or at various Meeting houses within New England Yearly Meeting.  Themes and their meaning are advanced in small groups to help us focus on and explore what Friends believe.  In addition, adult Quaker staff oversee games, small groups discussions, food preparation and most especially, attend to the needs, both spiritually and physically, of children who come to retreats.  Fellowship and ongoing nurture is further supported between retreats with letters, phone calls, emails, occasional visits and by using this site, both among children and adults.
