Alana Horton

Quasi- Queasy Quaker

Religion mixes my feelings,
Shifting them ‘round my head,
Forcing me to question,
While thoughts remain unsaid.

Stereotypes so common,
When one’s a Quaker like me,
Annoying as mosquitoes,
So I yearn for people to see……

I do not wear a bonnet,
“Thee” and “Thou” are lost on me,
I am enormously clumsy,
“Silent?” Not in this vocabulary,

Sure, I believe in pacifism,
And everyone sharing the “Light of God”,
If you think that’s perfect
I suppose you will be awed!

I lie, and I’m not simple,
I sometimes stray my word,
I possess some mixed feelings,
But really, that’s not absurd…..

Imagine of the taunts, the hurt,
And consider all the jeers,
How could you embrace a faith,
That sent you home in tears?

How could you
Embrace a faith
That sent
You
Home
In
Tears?
