Retreat Schedule at a Glance:  

(Specific weekend schedule is in Staff Notebooks)

  Give or take a half hour or so, an average retreat schedule generally looks like this:

  FRIDAY:  4:30, (or so!) (Some) staff arrives for worship or Motrin!  Set up activity areas, help cook, prepare, and set out dips/munchies/etc. for children as they arrive.  6:30, Free time until now for children arriving, holding first large group greetings.  Dinner setup.  7:00, “Supper On The Go” is ready!  7:30, Blink, and dinner’s over! Cleanup.  8:00, Evening activity, usually games, singing, theme building, etc.  9:00, Winding down, “Quiet Room” people depart with staffer.  Sleeping areas set up, closing circle, share prayer or story for all.  9:30, Lights out little darlings!  10:00, Brief staff meeting, hover over adult munchies in kitchen!  Good Night!

  SATURDAY:  7:30, Schedule says first wake up, but they’ve been up since 6:30!  7:30-8:30, breakfast happens, then cleanup.  9:00, clean area, clean bodies, etc.  9:15, First large group meeting, game, then free time. 9:45, First small group meeting, (twenty minutes), followed by free time for games, crafts, morning snack, etc.  11:30, Review afternoon plans with children, set up for lunch.  1:30, cleaned up from lunch.

If we’re planning and off-site afternoon trip:

Depart for afternoon activity.  4:00, arrive back, relax, light snack.  4:30, “Quiet Hour.”  The third Small Group sometimes meets after Quiet Hour.  Outdoor games, free time, happen in this time frame too. 5:00-5:30 PM-ish, Dress Up Time happens!

If we do not plan an off-site afternoon trip:

1:30- 3:00 PM. Games, crafts, etc. Sometimes third Small Group happens in this time period too. 3:00 PM: Meeting for Worship. All children attend. Lasts about 35 minutes. We call it “Fast Silence!” 3:45: Snack, free time, outdoor games.

4:30: Quiet Hour. (Actually, when we have worship earlier, this lasts about 40 minutes.) 5:15: Dress Up Time!

  6:30, Dinner and cleanup.  7:30-8:00 Evening program begins with presentation, music, etc.  9:00 Good Night precious souls!  9:30ish Brief staff meeting.

  SUNDAY:  Schedule here is determined by our host Meeting’s worship and First Day School times.  7:30, Hey, now they want to sleep in!  Kevin cranks up “Good Morning Vietnam” tape!  Sixties rock and roll music gets them moving!  Children clean whole area up, roll up sleeping bags, etc., and take gear outside. All this happens before breakfast is served.  By 9:00, breakfast and clean up is done.  9:15-9:30, 9:30, all circle up, do “Lost and Found Show”, staff appreciation, and closing (very brief) worship.  Free time until we join host meeting for worship.  All children go, and stay, in meeting!  After worship, we share lunch together.  1:00-2:00 PM, Cleanup and head for home, tired and hopefully enriched by fellowship and love!  THANK YOU-BLESS YOU!
